Big Bear Honey was founded by Jacob and Kelly Bonnema in Zeeland, Michigan, with a simple mission: to support local beekeepers, strengthen the West Michigan honeybee community, and curate the tastiest specialty honey for family and friends. 

Nearly three decades after they married, Jacob and Kelly continue to work side by side with creativity, joy, and purpose. Their five children are grown and married, and now grandchildren have become the newest “buzz” in the family hive.

Inspired by the beehive, the Bonnemas remain devoted to supporting some of the smallest but most vital farmers—the honeybees. Without pollinators, our food systems and natural world simply couldn’t thrive.
