Want to Help Make a Difference in Our Community?
Here’s How!
You can help make a difference in our community by purchasing fresh, healthy, and locally-grown food at the Holland Farmers Market to donate to Community Action House and the Salvation Army! Just look for the Produce Donation Program at the Market every Wednesday from June 5 to September 25 and ask for a reuseable Produce Donation bag. Then visit your favorite vendors to shop for produce that you want to donate to share with income-limited families in our community. When you’re done shopping, return your bag to the volunteers staffing the table, who will keep your donations in a cooler until they can be dropped off at either Community Action House or the Salvation Army at the end of the Market day. Your support of the Produce Donation Program is greatly appreciated!
Market Gleaning Program
The Holland Farmers Market is proud to partner with Lakeshore Food Rescue to offer a gleaning program for our vendors. Each Saturday, the Lakeshore Food Rescue team visits each vendor at their stall to collect any unsold produce that is still suitable for consumption but unable to be sold at a later date. All produce collected is offered to members of Community Action House’s Food Club, ensuring that income-limited members of our community have access to fresh, healthy, and local food at a price they can afford. In 2023, Holland Farmers Market vendors donated over 47,000 pounds of produce that would have otherwise been disposed off. That’s the equivalent of over 39,000 healthy meals provided for members of our community!
