Plan your next field trip to the Market
The Holland Farmers Market loves to host school field trips! We believe that no one is too young to learn where their food comes from and how to make healthy food choices….and to have a lot of fun at the same time! Field trips at the Market can include staff-guided tours of the Market, conversations with farmers, a scavenger hunt with prizes, and free time to shop. Please complete the inquiry form if you’re interested in bringing students to the Market!
Field Trip FAQs
What is the fee for hosting a field trip at the Market?
The Holland Farmers Market does not charge a fee for field trips. We’re happy to have you as our guests!
What type of activities are available during a field trip?
Market staff can offer brief guided tours of the Market for your group (Wednesdays only) and arrange for “meet and greets” with vendors if requested in advance. A printed scavenger hunt and one small prize per student can also be provided free of charge. A printable PDF of the scavenger hunt can also be provided if requested in advance. Field trips are welcome to participate in the summer Kids Activities and Market Story Time as well.
Are students able to shop the Market?
Yes, we highly encourage students to bring $5-$10 to spend at the Market and for groups to allow free time for children to browse the Market and make purchases. We believe that it’s important to empower children to make their own healthy food choices! Please contact the Market staff if you would like to arrange for a purchase of items for the entire class from a particular vendor in advance of your visit (ie: if you would like each student to receive an apple when they visit a specified vendor’s booth).
Where can school buses park?
School buses are welcome to park in the Holland Farmers Market parking lot at the Holland Civic Center or to use the on-street parking spaces adjacent to the parking lot on 9th Street. Reserved parking for buses is not available.
