Market School: Become a Mushroom Connoisseur

For the fourth and final installment of Market School on Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 am, you’re invited to join the Holland Farmers Market and our very own Mycophile’s Garden to learn everything you need to know about becoming a mushroom connoisseur!

This class will walk you through how to best prepare mushrooms for cooking, what dishes they work well in, flavors to pair them with, and unique ways to use some of the unusual mushrooms they grow and forage for. You’ll also explore the nutritional benefits of edible fungi, which are rich in unique vitamins, minerals, protein, and other compounds that support overall health. In addition, the host will discuss the medicinal properties of mushrooms, highlighting bioactive compounds not found in other foods that can help support immune function and protect against diseases, including cancer.

The class will end with about 15 minutes for Q&A about anything and everything mushroom related so bring your questions!
