For the third installment of Market School on Saturday, August 22 at 10:00 am, you’re invited to join the Holland Farmers Market and our very own Nan Schut from Wild Dough LLC to learn all the ins and outs of sourdough baking.
Expert bread maker Nan Schut will lead a class that takes the fear and mystery out of sourdough baking. In just a short amount of time, you’ll learn how to create and maintain your own sourdough starter, mix your first dough, and bake a beautiful, crusty loaf at home — all without complicated techniques or guesswork.
Perfect for complete beginners, this class breaks everything down into easy, step-by-step instructions with clear explanations and practical tips. By the end, you’ll feel confident baking fresh sourdough bread whenever you want — no stress, no intimidation, just simple, delicious results.
No prior baking experience needed. Each class attendee will receive a sourdough starter, so just bring your enthusiasm, a love for carbs, and maybe a notepad so you don’t miss a single step!
About the Host
Nan Schut started Wild Dough just four years ago when she was gifted a sourdough cookbook by a friend. What started as gifts to neighbors became a local favorite, and today, Wild Dough operates from a 3,800 square foot bakery and storefront in Hudsonville Michigan fully licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture as a wholesale bakery. About Market School
Join the Holland Farmers Market all summer long for our Market School classes! These fun and affordable series of classes are held on the fourth Saturday of the month from June through September. Topics include beekeeping, sourdough baking, healthy cooking, and more, with all sessions hosted by local experts and friends of the Market!
Classes are $20 each and are held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on the last Saturday of the month in the upstairs Market View room inside the Holland Civic Center at 150 West 8th Street. Advanced registration is recommended as space is limited, however, walk-ins are welcome if space allows. All Market School attendees will also receive a free insulated tote bag from the Holland Farmers Market, a $10 value!
