Ray's Tamale King

Ray’s Tamale King was established in 1997. It started with a cooler of tamales under a tree at the Holland Farmers Market. Ray had a dream of selling tamales to the people of Holland and throughout Michigan. Ray was told he would need a food license and a wagon if he wanted to continue selling. He was determined, so he did what he need to do to get the wagon and license so that he could serve his tamales at the Holland Farmers Market.

In the 2nd year of his business, he added tacos, burgers, drinks, and more. Ray was finally living his dream. He looked forward to seeing his new family at the market. After 24 years of running his business and living his dream, Ray was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, which took his life at the age of 80 years old. His children continue to live out his dream as best as they know how and keep the legacy of the Ray’s Tamale King going.

Ray’s also offers online ordering and delivery, and are continuing to cater events, weddings, parties, and graduations.
